Trilostane blocks an enzyme active in the production of several
steroide including cortisol. Inhibiting this enzyme inhibits
producing cortisol. In Cushing's syndrome, the adrenal gland
overproduces steroide. Although steroide are crucial for various
functions with the body, too much can cause problems. Trilostane
decreases the amount of steroide made by the adrenal gland.
